Strategic Energy Management Coach - Northeast

Cascade Energy continues to experience steady growth, and our Strategic Energy Management (SEM) team is growing to meet demand. The SEM team facilitates trainings, utilizing powerful tools and information which enables our customers to strategically manage their energy use. We are seeking a Strategic Energy Management Coach to guide and implement existing and new SEM efforts on behalf of our utility clients.

This full time, exempt position will be based in our Northeast office and will report to the Territory Manager Northeast. We are currently determining the location for our Northeast office; potential locations include upstate NY (near Saratoga Springs) and the greater Boston area. Travel for this role is expected to be approximately 25%.


Responsibilities include:

  • Work with our Demand Side Management (DSM) utility clients to propose, design, deliver, and continuously improve our Energy Management (EM) offering. The EM offering includes Strategic Energy Management (SEM), facility wide tune-ups, sub-system reviews, and workshop facilitation targeted at industrial clients. These efforts will be delivered one-on-one or via cohorts of 5 to 15 industrial clients. This position will play a key role in working with industrial customers to successfully implement these services in a manner that achieves energy savings
  • Work with our SENSEI™ team to build SEM elements into our existing Energy Information Systems and Energy Management processes
  • Contribute to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for new EM/SEM work


  • Successful candidates will possess a combination of both technical and interpersonal skills. SEM delivery involves a high level of personal interaction in a variety of circumstances; the ability to listen, motivate, and empathize with others is essential
  • Ability to understand the role and motivations of DSM clients, and support the changing aspects of SEM program design and implementation
  • Excellent customer engagement skills are required when working with DSM managers and industrial companies
  • Experience with change management implementation is preferred
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • A general knowledge of industrial manufacturing processes and facility systems, along with knowledge of the energy aspects of common mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with the statistical methods used for developing energy models for industrial facilities
  • Experience with organizational change management consulting and/or energy efficiency engineering
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (English) are vital to the position. The Strategic Energy Management Coach needs to have an engaging speaking style, the ability to compile a strong presentation, and the skills to adapt their communication to various audiences (operations to executive staff)
  • Project management experience and aptitude
  • Engineering background not required, but some extended hands-on experience in an industrial setting and/or with industrial clients is required
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with preference for engineering, business, finance, or other applicable degree
